Hermione screamed.
"Ron!" His limp body slid down the tree it had struck. Harry was up now, running stiffly toward her. He shoved her behind him, but she had nothing of that. She would help. "No!" The invisible enemy slashed at them both.
She screamed.
She was alone now. Battling her fears, the ones that had come to life before her eyes. Harry was gone...Ron was gone. She was alone. Completely alone.
Her scream echoed.
She was wandless, no way to defend herself. Her magic wasn't working. She was facing her worst fears...her very worst fears. No one was there to help her. No one could save her. She was alone...completely alone. Because she'd tried to help and failed. Because she couldn't face her own fears.
She screamed.
Because she was a complete failure. Because she had no where to turn. She was almost sure that she was dead now.
Hermione screamed.

Mebas hears hermione scream even know he was far away from her. He talks to her mind. "Calm down hermione. It's just a dream and you are killing my ears." He growls and sits up, transporting to the room next to her bed.

Hermione jerked awake, tumbled off of the bed in a caccoon of sheets and comforters. Tears streamed from her eyes--she shook violently. The same dream haunted her every few nights, but never like this. It had never been like this. Her fingers jolted again, her magic was pulsing and she couldn't control it.

Mebas looks down at hermione and kneed down next to her. "Calm down. Get yourself together. It was nothing to hurt you. Just forget about it and calm down please." He wipes the tears from her eyes and holds her gently in his arms, trying to comfort her.

Hermione shook and she sobbed. Her chest throbbed in pain. She didn't know why. Her fingers burned, so did her hands and the painful heat was rising up her arms. She lifted herself out of his arms and strode, very shakily, to pick up a porcelain piggy bank. She smashed it on the floor. Something to break...to keep the magic at bay. The burning stopped, but the jagged pain in her chest didn't. She fell to the floor again and hugged her knees to her chest.

Mebas gets up and walks over to her, sitting down next to her. He rubs her back. "Is there anything I can do to help?" He was very worried about her and wanted her to be happy and to helpful.

Hermione shrugged jerkily, glaring at something invisible off in one corner.

Mebas picks her up and carrys her to her bed. He sets her down in it and pulls the covers over her. "Go to sleep or do not. I need to go somewhere for now. Ok.

Hermione hugged the blanket to her chin, her eyes suddenly fearful. "But...what if it happens again?" she asked.

Mebas looks down at her. "Do you want me to stay with you then? I will be happy to help you out." He looks down at her and smiles gently.

Hermione hesitated. She felt guilty. "No. No, it's all right." She said bravely.

Mebas nods to her and walks to the window. "I will see you tomorrow. Ok." He looks out the window, waiting for her to respond. "Oh and if you get scared just call my name and I will come to you."

Hermione nodded, hugging the blankets close to her. She layed back against her pillows and closed her eyes, hoping for very ordinary dreams.

Mebas looks at her as she closes her eyes and disappears to his place. He waits until the morning to go back to her and hope she can make it until then.

If she dreamed again, Hermione didn't remember a bit of it. But when she woke up, she saw the broken piggybank, the jumbled sheets on the ground and remembered every detail of her nightmare.
